With the cost of living conversation imminent as ever, Guinness Homes are eager to share the economical benefits that buying new can have for families across the country, meaning less carbon emissions as well as more cash in wallets.

Recent research provided by the House Builders Federation has shown new build homes help save £112 million, whilst also cutting UK carbon emissions by over 500,000 tonnes, per year. Their in-depth report - titled ‘Greener, Cleaner, Cheaper’ - shows heating bills for new build homes can be up to 59% cheaper than equivalent older properties, making the option of purchasing a new build property incredibly appealing, especially during today’s economic hardship felt by so many across the country.

HBF Managing Director, Neil Jefferson commented on the exciting new research, noting:

“We have known for many years that new homes bring a wealth of benefits to homebuyers but with energy bills rising it’s never been more important for homebuyers to weigh up these costs as they consider their next move.”

The ‘Greener, Cleaner, Cheaper’ report reveals that homeowners of new build properties are likely to save an average of £435 per annum, which rises to £555 for new build houses alone. Specifically, this new insight shows that new build homes are able to provide lower running costs for household bills such as £395 on heating bills, £28 on hot water and £12 on lighting bills.
