The maximum income threshold for eligibility has been increased from £60,000 to £67,000. This change aims to extend the benefits of affordable housing to a broader segment of middle-income earners in London.
The updated income threshold means that more middle-income households will now qualify for LLR homes, which are designed to offer rents significantly below market rates. This initiative is particularly beneficial for those who have found themselves squeezed by the high cost of living in the capital but do not qualify for traditional social housing.
The increase in the income cap allows more families and individuals to benefit from the programme. This is especially crucial as housing prices in London continue to rise, putting financial pressure on many residents.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) will be working closely with local councils and housing associations to ensure that the updated thresholds are implemented smoothly and that eligible residents are informed about the changes.
